FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Although various forms of eyelash extensions have been around for centuries, eyelash extension techniques were patented in the early 2000’s, making it a fairly new industry.

  • Here are a few of my personal tips n’ tricks:

    • Wear comfy clothes as the appointment may take upwards of two hours.

    • Avoid caffeine, it can cause jittery lids which may make the appointment uncomfortable.

    • Curious about the process? Read more here.

  • The eyelash extension process should not hurt if the lash artist is following a proper procedure.  That being said, if you discomfort please notify your lash artist ASAP so they can make any adjustments. What is most common is that clients find that they are SO comfortable that they end up drifting away and catching some beauty sleep! Let your appointment time be a relaxing pamper session.

  • I do not use mink eyelash extensions. I prefer synthetic mink eyelashes for two reasons. One, I chose to be cruelty-free and, secondly, mink eyelash fibres are uncomfortable and make the client prone to allergic reaction /sensitivities.

  • The process is quite simple. the false eyelash is dipped in a lash adhesive and then attached approximately one millimetre from the base of the eyelash. This allows the natural lash to continue to grow as normal. At Soft Heart Studios, maintaining the health of the natural lash is the utmost priority, so each lash set is customized and tailored to the client and their natural eyelashes. Click here if you’d like to get more in-depth information about the eyelash extension process.

  • I like to try different adhesives so it depends on when you are asking! Any questions or concerns are welcome. please contact me directly and I am happy to answer any questions. I recommended coming in for a consultation or patch test if you are concerned about sensitivities or allergic reactions to the eyelash adhesive.

  • For eyelash extensions, there are a couple of post-treatment aftercare instructions required to follow.

    Up to 4 hours after:

    • avoid wetting the eyelashes

    • avoid steams, saunas, and heat contacting the eyelash extensions

    After the initial 4 hours:

    • you can wet your lashes as you normally would

    • avoid heat around the eyelash extensions

    • do not pick, pull or rub the eyelashes

    • avoid oil getting in contact with the eyelash extensions

Please see the eyelash extension aftercare page for full aftercare instructions.

Daily cleansing is key to prevent buildup and keep them looking fresh. Use Dreamy Lash Bath or any eyelash extension safe shampoo for gentle, effective cleaning that preserves your lashes and promotes healthy growth.

  • Lash lift aftercare is similar to eyelash extension in terms of the immediate 4 hour window. You should avoid wetting your eyelashes and avoid steams, sauna and heat. But lash lifts are lower maintenance after the initial 4 hours.

Please see the lash lift aftercare page for the full debrief.
